Shortly before midnight on Sunday, Jan. 5, a police officer on patrol in New Canaan spotted 19-year-old Nathan Orion Dobbs traveling north on Park Street without a front license plate marker, New Canaan Police said.
When attempting to stop Dobbs, he allegedly failed to obey the officer attempting to pull him over, pulling into the parking lot of the New Canaan Nature Center and crashing into an unoccupied parked vehicle.
According to police, Dobbs, a New Canaan resident, then allegedly exited his vehicle and ran into the woods of the center.
A search of the vehicle Dobbs was driving led to the discovery of a passport, which led investigators to his Rippowam Road tom. Detectives also found marijuana and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle.
Dobbs was taken into custody following the investigation and charged with evading responsibility for a crash involving property damage; disobeying the signal of a police officer operating an unregistered motor vehicle, engaging police in a pursuit and failing to display a license plate.
Following his processing, Dobbs was released and scheduled to appear in court on Friday, Jan. 17 to respond to the charges.
